Somewhere in Myanmar is a forest rich in amber and controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). Most of its inhabitants work in a mine, digging the earth night and days in the hope of finding the precious ore that will get them out of poverty. But on top of the excruciating hardship of the work, they also have to fear an attack from the army.。魏莱自幼与父亲魏兴相依为命。由于过度操劳，魏兴患上癌症。为了给父亲治病，魏莱找到离的开母亲林卉，但却受到了外公的阻止。后来魏兴去世，魏莱心有不甘，去到林卉家做起了护工。日渐相处，魏莱明白了母亲对自的爱，逐渐放下仇恨。但没想到自己也患上了癌症。
