2029年，韩国载人飞船“探月号”出发前往月球，即将产生第二个成功登月的国家，任务备受全世界瞩目。然而“探月号”不幸遇上太阳黑子爆发所引致的太阳风暴，发生严重意外，宇航员黄善宇（都暻秀饰）成为“探月号”的唯一幸存者。为了营救流浪月球的黄善宇，隐居小白山天文台的前载人飞船飞行总监金载国（薛景求饰），加入了救援行动，同时韩国政府亦要求美国太空总署（NASA）的总监尹文英（金喜爱饰）及月球门户太空站介入协助，但却一直遇上重重阻挠。载人飞船的燃料将近耗尽，氧气亦正在倒数，再加上流星雨撞击与月震，被孤立在38.4万公里以外月球上的宇航员黄善宇，个人的一小步也足以令全球人类紧张屏息，到底营救行动会如何发展？。During the exercise, the search and rescue squad receives a message about the child lost in the forest.
