"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。1990年代初在大陆引起较大反响的“农村三部曲”电视剧之一，剧情紧接《辘轳、女人和井》。枣花与小庚分居，立誓要好好干一番事业，小庚劝阻不成，翻脸要她还当年为她赎身的4000元，不过他的真实目的是想令枣花重回身边，两人感情开始一波三折。铜锁两口子开了豆腐房，面对完全新生的铜锁，茂源老汉老泪纵横，但他的内心依旧凄苦。后来，茂源老汉认识了酷似枣花娘的枣花二姨，两人一来二往中生出感情，茂源老汉担心悲剧会再度重演，但枣花二姨的性格迥异于枣花娘。。
