和子（尾野真千子饰）在下班回家的路上遇到了一个拄着双拐、脚受伤的陌生女孩环（佐伯日菜子饰）。环的左脚受伤，她穿着笨重的白色石膏，行动受限。和子留意到了这个陌生的女孩，表达了帮助她的意愿。然而，当和子表示想要帮助时，环却用了一种不太自然、没有礼貌的命令口吻，要求和子帮她脱掉右脚的高跟鞋，称穿着不舒适。 随后，和子前往了环独自居住的家中。环再次提出要求冰镇啤酒，显然因为行动不便，她在命令和子满足这个要求。虽然和子最终照办，购买了冰镇啤酒，但在购买过程中她必须四处奔波，最终环却给了她房间的钥匙作为答谢。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
